Note 04 - The Moment We Choose

Before it exists, before it it becomes visible to anyone else, every meaningful creation has a moment when we decide:

I'm doing this.

That moment when something within us has already said yes.

This moment appears in almost every meaningful project I have been part of: before a business is started, before a book is written, before an exhibition opens, before people gather, before a relationship matures.

A point of no return where we are being asked to back ourselves and commit to what we are creating.

And often, that's the moment we mistake for resistance or a sign that maybe this is not the right decision after all…

That’s often when obstacles appear: plans change, questions arise, the timing suddenly feels inconvenient, the investment feels bigger than we anticipated…

And so we wonder if we should wait. Doubts starts to bubble up. We begin to question our vision.

I've come to see those moments not as signs that we're pursuing the wrong path; as invitations to become the person capable of managing and leading what we're creating.

The other thing is that meaningful work almost always asks something of us before it gives something back. Courage. Patience. Trust.

Or the willingness to let go of the version of ourselves that needed every answer before taking the first step.

I can see this pattern everywhere: the businesses I've helped build, the exhibitions I've curated, the book I just wrote. Even this website.

They did not happen because I had it all perfectly figured out.

They happened because, at some point, I chose them.

Fully. All-in. No matter what!

Also, what I have experienced is that whenever we choose something fully, the people who are meant to walk alongside us keep walking with us, and those who are not will fall away.

Every purposeful commitment reorganises the world around it and not everyone is meant to cross every threshold with us.

That's okay.

Because choosing something wholeheartedly changes the person creating it.

That's often the point of purposeful creation, and some people are not yet ready to evolve with us.
