Together
March 17 ā April 3, 2022
Featuring work by Elina Ahlstedt, Inkeri Heiskanen, Eeva Lietonen, Frans Nybacka, Christine Valtonen, and Xiao Zhiyu.
Every Marcy exhibition began with an intuitive feeling.
A sense that certain works, people, or ideas wanted to meet.
Together was no different.
The exhibition began with one artist.
I knew I wanted to show Eeva Lietonen's work again after our previous collaboration.
When I invited her to participate, I asked a question.
"Who would you love to exhibit alongside?"
That one question shaped the entire exhibition.
What began as a conversation gradually unfolded into a group of six artists whose work felt connected through something deeper than style.
An intuitive approach. Compassion. Rawness. Vulnerability. Support.
A shared dedication to their own practice and to the beauty of their chosen materials.
Looking back, I realise Together wasn't only about bringing artists into the same space.
It was about trusting collaboration itself.
Trusting that meaningful constellations emerge when we leave room for other people's intuition to shape the process.
Sometimes the most beautiful ideas belong to the space between us.

Looking Back
Reading these reflections today, I recognise something that has become increasingly important in my work.
Creation is rarely a solitary act.
Even when one person carries the original vision, the work becomes richer through dialogue, generosity, and shared imagination.
Collaboration is about trusting that other people can help us see what we could never have discovered alone.
